Don’t Judge Your Judgements

I have always liked the quote, “the magic happens when you leave your comfort zone.” So many of the inspiring moments in my life have occurred when I was trying something new in my life.

Two of the biggest life changing moments happened while I studied abroad in college and when I decided to leave the corporate world.

Initially it had been scary to take a different path than my friends and colleagues but my life has been so enriched with new experiences and friendships because of this that it has always been worth it to me.

WomenWhile I was at The Golden Door this past week leading women’s health and wellness workshops I went on a meditation hike. It was such a beautiful experience and one that I will never forget.

After the hike we met for breakfast and each of us talked about our experience. Many of the women had a very meaningful moment that changed the way the direction of their lives during the hike, it was that powerful for them.

I felt so at peace but didn’t have a “moment” and then I felt like I had missed something. When I spoke about this the man who led the hike said, “Katie go with your heart not your head. Stop judging your judgements and stop judging your experiences.”

This was my life changing moment.  I was not being truly present and instead of enjoying the experience for what it was I was trying to understand it.

Does that ever happen to you? You are eating healthy but then judging what you are eating instead of actually enjoying your food? Or perhaps you want a new job but are not taking that step because you have some preconceived thoughts about what this new job would look like or feel like?

Are you living your life or are you stuck in your head judging your experiences? Either way we are stuck in our current place which may or may not be supporting us and helping us feel healthy and inspired.

This week I would like you to try to experience your day and just go with whatever comes your way, just let it in and then let it out by taking deep long breathes and see just by getting present how you can experience your life without judging it or you.

You may be surprised at just how much calmer you feel and how much easier it is to make you and your health a priority. In just the past five days I have noticed how more present I am in my life by just experiencing it more.

Big Hugs & Health,

Katie
