How To Actually Reach Your New Year’s Goals This Year

IIN Photo 2 JournalMy old New Year’s Eve pastime was making lists of places I wanted to travel, with things I wanted to accomplish in my career and life. I used to really push myself to accomplish the goals on these lists.

Last year I decided to try something different and I didn’t make one single list! Trust me it was hard to resist, I love making lists. Instead I asked myself how I wanted to feel in 2014 and the first word that came to me was calm.

I decided to make meditation my one and only goal and intention for the year. I didn’t write it down but every morning when I woke up I thought about meditating. You know what happened? I finally started to meditate. It had been on my “goals” list for years but somehow got lost in the long line of things I wanted to achieve.

Instead of achieving this year, I encourage you to ask yourself, “how would I like to feel every single day?” See if giving yourself space and focusing on how you want to feel helps you create healthier relationships, healthier habits, and a healthy career.

The key is to only pick one way you want to feel. It is easier for our brain to focus on one thing at a time.

I encourage you to find a quiet space and give yourself some time to think about how you would like to feel this New Year. Perhaps lit a candle or use some essential oils to set the mood and take some time to create your ideal life this year.

Please share with us below what your word of the year is and how you decided on this word!

I’m really looking forward to supporting you and your health in the New Year.

Happy New Year!

Big Hugs & Health,

Katie
