If you have been following me on facebook or twitter you might have noticed my obsession with Coconut Oil! I have been adding coconut oil to my smoothies in the morning and when I cook veggies. I have been adding healthy fats into all of my meals and even snacks. I have found that when I don’t include enough fats into my diet I become tired and kinda spacey.
The reason we might become tired and spacey when we don’t nourish our body with fats is because our brains are made up of 60% fat! So when we deprive our brain of fats we are not feeding the most important muscle in our body, our thinking cap!
When we crave fat we often times reach for the wrong types of fats to nourish our body. Before I knew what the best healthy fats were I often found myself craving cheese… and I ate a lot of it! Just ask my college roommates.
There are so many no-fat, fat-free, low-fat labels on food that it becomes very confusing to figure out what we should be eating. We shouldn’t avoid fats but embrace adding healthy fats into our diet because our body needs fats in order to thrive. When you nourish your body this way you will be able to satistfy your cravings, maintain or even lose weight. You will also be able to focus better during your day. Trust me, I know that the more healthy fats I eat the better I feel.
