Sugar Detox Before The Holidays

Sugar Detox Before The Holidays The holidays are quickly approaching! The holidays are always so much fun but when you are trying to be healthier it becomes a little harder when your co-workers start to bring in more sweet treats and you are invited to more holiday parties.

Did you know that the average American consumes an estimated 130 pounds of sugar a year?

You might think that you you don’t eat that much sugar but it is in everything and is everywhere.

We all crave sweets from time to time especially now during the holidays when the sweet treats seem to be more available.

I love sweets but I also know how my body feels when I have too many sweets and I always like to do a cleanse before and after the holidays with real whole foods so I can keep my body in a healthy state.

Today I am sharing with you my simple expert nutrition and lifestyle tips that I use so you can detox from sugar before the holidays.

By getting your sugar cravings under control now you won’t have to worry about ruining your healthy eating habits when the holidays arrive.

Set your body up for holiday success with my sugar detox before the holidays tips!

Drink Water

When our body is dehydrated it actually craves sweets. So if you were to drink tons of water during the day you can actually decrease your sugar cravings and give your body more energy. When you are first starting out, drink at least one large glass of water an hour.

Jumpstart Your Health

If you know that you are addicted to sugar and actually experience withdrawal after not having sweets as in headaches and body aches I encourage you to try my 5 day jumpstart. In this jumpstart you will be eating real whole foods that will help cleanse your body from toxins and give you more energy.

A recent client of mine who completed the 5 day jumpstart lost a few pounds and decreased her sugar cravings in just a few days.

Here is the link for more information about my 5 day jumpstart cleanse.

If you are wondering if your body actually is in need of a jumpstart, check out one of my previous posts, three signs your body needs a jumpstart.

Sweet Veggies

Carrots and Sweet Potatoes are two of my favorite sweet veggies. Sometimes we can cure our sugar blues by just eating more sweet veggies.

Try adding some more sweet veggies into your meals. I love my sweet potato fries recipe, click here to get it!

Spice It Up

Think about your most recent meal, did you satisfy your body? Often times when we cook or eat out we are only satisfying one taste sensation in our body since we tend to only use one flavor throughout the entire meal.

By adding in more spices you can cure your sugar cravings by satisfying your taste buds. Think of adding something sweet, spicy, pungent and sour to all of your meals and see that by satisfying your palette you can decrease your sugar cravings.

Hugs

Sometimes we crave sweets when we actually really need a hug and some love in our life. I used to eat a lot of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream when I was in my 20’s when I was feeling a little stressed as a busy corporate woman.

Looking back I realized that I would have felt better by meeting up with friends instead. Create solid relationships with your family and friends so you have someone there for you when you need them the most.

Greens

Adding greens to your diet is one of the best ways to do a sugar detox before the holidays in an easy and natural way. Try having a green smoothie for breakfast, a big salad for lunch and a green veggie stir-fry for dinner.

With any craving in life it is always super important to find to the root cause of what is making you feel a certain way.

If you are having sugar cravings think about what your body might really need. I encourage you to tune into your body and ask yourself if you are drinking enough water, are you having fun in your life and can you satisfy your craving with real whole foods instead of a sugary treat that might only leave you craving more sugar.

I’m always here to support and guide you with any of your nutrition and wellness needs. If you are looking for additional support with your sugar cravings let’s chat!
