We all have a little weak spot when it comes to sugar. Even when we have gotten most of it out of our diet, sugar becomes harder to resist especially now that the holidays are slowly approaching.
My client had been experiencing a dry cough for years, no matter what time of year it was. She thought it was allergies but as time went by (and no matter where she lived) it didn’t go away. It was after she had children that she thought something else might be going on and it was more than just allergies.
She was also experiencing what I like to call stubborn weight loss, it was all belly weight that she had gained and after all of the different diets she had tried over the years the weight never left.
This lovely woman came to me when she was experiencing extremely low energy to the point that she couldn’t even get out of bed in the morning and no matter how much coffee she drank she was just dragging all day long. With two young children and a full time job you can see how this wasn’t supporting her and her health.
During our first session together we spent a while discussing what she was eating and how that was making her feel. She kept mentioning that she didn’t eat sugar but when we started to look at the food in her kitchen cabinets we saw that even though most of her packaged foods were labeled sugar free and gluten free, she was consuming more sugar than she thought, and it was the processed artificial kind which causes inflammation in the body which is why her sinuses were not working properly and caused stubborn belly weight.
We initiated a kitchen cabinet cleanse and then stocked her fridge with tons of healthy vegetables and tons of sweet veggies like sweet potatoes and carrots, we added in fruits and super foods including my favorite raw cacao. We slowly starting to eliminate the sugar and added in healthier versions of the foods she was already eating.
Since we worked together she no longer has that dry cough that was bothering her for years, has lost and kept off 17 pounds but more importantly she has energy to play with her children.
“I have so much energy and clarity of mind. I am more patient and able to manage my time so much more efficiently. Yoga and walking are part of my weekly routine. I have noticed that my ankles are not swollen like they were. The bags under my eyes continue to smooth out. I have noticed this even again this week! Everywhere I go, where people have not seen me in a while, they remark about the weight I have lost and the ‘glow’ in my face and eyes. I am really grateful for this change! I feel like I want to feel, and knew that I could without western medicine.”
Honestly it is just the small changes that we make that really help us feel better in our bodies. This woman inspires me so much and I hope her transformational story inspires you to take one mini step today towards your healthy self.
