Are You Experiencing Email Overload?

Are You Experiencing Email Overload?

My fiancé and I recently decided to move our wedding date up from February to this November. We are getting married exactly three years to the day that we went on our first vacation together in Barbados. 🙂 We are both so excited but have a lot of planning to do. I was feeling great about our decision until last week when I got an email from the Knot letting me know that our special day is just five months away! Do you ever get an email that makes you feel anxious and overwhelmed when it was supposed to make you excited? Well that happened to me last week. I started to feel a little overwhelmed and was totally craving crackers! (That is my go to stress snack) and chocolate too! I also think that I stopped breathing for a few moments too 😉

I am sharing this with you because we all feel like this once and a while and perhaps your email inbox has gotten a little out of control. Between work and personal emails it could take hours to actually read and respond to everything. This week I am offering you some tips to help you cope with email overload. Instead of feeling stressed at work try some of these helpful tips. If we cope better with the stress in our life our health truly benefits. Trust me I wanted to binge for a moment but instead I made self care a major priority in my life last week and this week too.

  • Take Deep Breathes – Deep breathing will calm your brain and help you relax
  • Get Up And Talk A Walk – Seriously the email can wait, leave your desk for at least five minutes
  • Drink a Cup Of Herbal Mint Tea – The smell of mint is very calming and holding a warm cup in your hands is relaxing too
  • Yoga It Out! Take a yoga class after work or do some stretches at your desk
  • Check In With Yourself! Just take a moment to ask yourself, is this something I should really be anxious about?
  • Take A Self Care Day – When was the last you took a day off? Maybe cash in on a personal day or take one a weekend to detox from technology, read my Mind Body Green article for some tips!
  • Unsubscribe – I get at least 30 emails a day from companies that I honestly don’t need to read. I spent 30 minutes last week just unsubscribing from newsletters! (Please don’t do this to me though 😉 )
  • Shut Down – I try really hard to not check emails after 8:30 a night. If you find yourself checking emails before you go to bed or first thing in the morning wait until you are actually at work to check email.

Remember I am here for you so if you feel like your daily life is affecting your health and happiness let’s find a time to connect so I can help guide you towards a less stressed and healthier lifestyle, just as I have for many people like you!

Big Hugs & Health,

Katie
