Healthy Hormones Summer Tips
I always look forward to this time of year as summer is my favorite season. Did you know that this season also represents the ovulation phase of your cycle? This is the phase of your cycle when we feel the most energized, creative, social and confident! It’s also hot and for some people this weather can feel draining. Take care of you this summer by adding these healthy hormones summer tips into your daily routine so you can feel nourished all season long
Stay Hydrated!
It’s going to be a hot summer, make sure you drink enough water, room temp is best to keep your womb warm. It can also be helpful to add some electrolytes, maybe a little bit of coconut water added to your water, a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt or try my favorite electrolytes LMNT (the chocolate ones are the best ones in my opinion.)
- It’s important to say hydrated because dehydration disrupts our hormones, makes us feel tired, can cause headaches and an increase in cravings, for salt or sugar!

Increase your fiber intake
- I love all of the fresh fruits and veggies this time of the year, give me all of the yellow squashes and peaches! You might notice craving lighter foods like vegetables and fruit compared to the more hearty root vegetables. Continue to focus on getting enough protein, healthy fats and fibers. If it feels too hot to cook in your oven try grilling, using a slow cooker or air fryer so you are not heating the house. Here is one of my favorite meals to make in the summer, my power bowl recipe

Snack Packs
- Don’t get hangry when you are out and about enjoying your time in the sun. You may be traveling more this time of year or just spending more time outside, either way make sure you bring enough food for you, not just your kids! Some of my favorite to go snacks are Vermont meat sticks, nuts, mini hummus packs with carrots, cheese sticks and fruit.The boys love all of these snacks just as much as I do. Eating for our hormones keeps our blood sugar balanced, helps reduce mood swings, cravings, and supports our cycles. Remember it’s never fun to be hangry!
Rest!
Focus on quality sleep throughout the summer, but also take time to rest. Use your vacation days and keep a day or two for just relaxation. Reading is one of my favorite ways to relax, I love to unwind with a good book and there are so many great summer reads out right now. I highly recommend This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune and Just For The Summer by Abby Jimenez. I couldn’t put either book down once I started reading them.
- Sleep helps our body regulate cortisol, insulin, and other hormones that are important for metabolism, appetite, and mood. With the longer days it can be tempting to stay up late, but don’t forget to prioritize sleep.
Remember to take care of you this summer and continue to track your cycle so you can see if we need to make any modifications to your diet or lifestyle so we can nourish and support your body.
