How To Bounce Back After A Long Weekend

I hope your vacation was fabulous, and I’d bet that you are now staring longingly at pictures of your vacation and spending way too much time on social media wishing you were anywhere but at your desk.

I get it! Coming back to work after a vacation is never easy! As much as I LOVE what I do, coming back to emails and a schedule doesn’t excite me as much as exploring a new place and being with close family and friends.

Now that you are at work, let’s find a way for you to enjoy your day better. Today I’m sharing with you ways you can feel healthy, calm and energized after a long weekend or vacation. See how incorporating these healthy tips into your life today and every week can create a healthier work environment for you to thrive in.

Bringing fresh flowers into your office will instantly brighten up your space and your mood. Find the brightest flowers you can and place them on the corner of your desk so you have something beautiful to look at all day.

Don’t Over Do It!

When we come back from vacation what we usually do is try to cram a week’s worth of email reading and responding into one day. At least that is what I used to do when I was working in the corporate world. Before you start your day, ask yourself “What is the most important project that I need to work on?” “Who do I need to check in with and what can wait until tomorrow.”

Make sure you also leave on time, ease you way back into work so you don’t feel overwhelmed and burnt out on the first day back. The worst feeling in the world is coming back from a vacation and forgetting that you were ever on a break! So don’t forget to turn off your work email once you get home and try not to check out social media and give your brain a technology detox.

What you usually enjoy the most about being away is the freedom to eat, sleep and do whatever you like anytime you want. Create more freedom in your day by taking your lunch break. I know that sounds simple but how often are you actually leaving the office and taking time away from email? Probably not as often as you need.

Make lunch dates with a friend or your co-worker that you enjoy spending time with. I know it seems difficult to leave the office but remember each time you leave your desk you will feel more refreshed when you get back to work. You will notice more energy and a sense of clarity and the ability to finish your job with more ease instead of eating lunch at your desk and feeling uninspired and tired. Breaks are so important to the health and nourishment of your body, mind and soul!

Self Care

If you know that you need a break from getting back from vacation and work extend your vacation by one day to ease your way back. So if you get back late on a Sunday evening instead of going to work on Monday, take the day to meal plan for the week, go grocery shopping, take a yoga class, get a massage and relax back into your healthy routine. That extra day will keep you feeling calm and when you get back into the office you will feel more inspired to get back into your work.

Enjoy your short week!

Big Hugs & Health,
