It’s More Than The Food

Katie Bressack Meeting With ClientsAs a women’s nutrition and wellness coach I can help you balance your hormones, help you prepare your body for pregnancy and help your body get to her ideal weight. But none of that really matters if you hate or job, if you feel stressed all of the time and if you are not in a supportive loving relationship with yourself.

See if you dislike your work environment, you will still eat that candy bar every single day at 3 p.m. no matter how much we change your diet. If you value your job above yourself and work long hours, you will always be too exhausted to cook healthy food or move your body.

The more time I spend with my clients, the deeper the appreciation I have for our bodies inner desires. It’s so much more than the food – until you know why you are reaching for that cookie you will lose and gain weight time and again. What is essential to living a healthy life is to understand the root reason why you might not be feeling your best. Uncovering this helps you get back into alignment so you can feel healthy and whole.

Whenever I feel stuck or tired, it’s a sign that my body is out of alignment. Perhaps I have said yes to things that I honestly didn’t want to do, or maybe I’m just not sleeping enough. When I’m not feeling my best I’m so moody and complain constantly, which is not the norm for me. After a good healthy cry I try to take a moment to look around and see what has changed. For the past few weeks I haven’t been feeling my best and when I looked at the way I was living my life I realized that I had become addicted to my phone… again! I was constantly checking my emails and Facebook, which was just stressing me out, and I had stopped meditating and journaling in the morning. I had to take a huge step back and stop the insanity! I deleted email and Facebook from my phone which was a huge step in the right direction for me.

I can easily put together a meal plan for you, give you recipes and talk about the benefits of eating greens but none of that matters until your truly understand why you are not taking care of yourself in the first place.

I encourage you to take some time to explore your inner desires and feelings about your life. So today I’d like you to take out a piece of paper and a pen and write down these questions:

  • What Do I Like About My Job?
  • What Do I Enjoy About My Day?
  • What Keeps Me Up At Night?
  • Do I Like My Friends?
  • Do I Enjoy Where I Live?
  • What Do I Like To Do Outside Of Work?
  • Who I Am Without My Job Title? How Would I Describe Myself To A Stranger?
  • What Am I Passionate About?

wellnesswedsTake some time to journal. Be okay with some of the uncomfortable feelings that might come up when you start to explore these questions. You can take this a step further and ask yourself “What Do I Really Need To Survive?” and “What Do I Need To Be Happy?” When I did this writing exploration myself last week I discovered that my lists were identical. What I need to survive is love, food, water, clothes, family, friends and sunshine and when I wrote down what I need to be happy it was exactly the same.

So are you eating this candy bar for pleasure because it’s the only time in the day you allow yourself to relax? Are you eating this candy because you are not having enough fun in your day so this is your excitement? Without any judgement think about the real reason you are reaching for that cookie and see what might be holding yourself back from your healthiest self. If you’d like to chat with me about this one-on-one please go here and schedule a time to speak with me.

For me and my clients, being healthy is all in the way that we feel. You can eat super healthy and move your body but if something in your life isn’t in alignment you will still not feel as healthy as you could. It’s a simple shift that takes time, love and patience but when you are in a place of feeling whole from the inside out you will start to notice that you don’t want that cookie as much anymore. You can satisfy yourself!

Big Hugs & Health,
