I LOVE yoga. If I don’t keep up with my regular practice I can actually feel my body become cranky both physically and mentally.
If it my way to connect my body to my breath and movement. Yoga is my therapy. I can count on my personal practice or attending a class to lift my spirits and put everything back into prospective.
Yoga helped changed my life. I was an overstressed, overachiever New Yorker with an insomnia problem.My roommate at the time suggested I start including yoga into my life instead of just running on the treadmill at the gym. This was not grounding or therapeutic, she said.
It only took me one yoga class to become hooked. After just a week of daily yoga I was sleeping better than I ever had in my entire life. I started to learn how to breathe. I didn’t realize how often I was holding my breathe because of stress. Just learning how to breathe the right way helped me start to reduce stress in my daily life. Having a regular pracitce helped me to relax, be more focused and joyful.
I also felt strong in my body. Strength helps you feel beautiful. When you can hold plank pose you feel strong from the inside out and this helps so much with your confidence. Yoga really makes me feel happy and comfortable in my skin.
