Post Holiday Detox

I stopped counting calories a long time ago, thank goodness and now I just practice mindful eating. Since changing my diet and career path I have had the opportunity to get to know myself in a new way. I know now what I can eat to gain more energy into my life. I know now how to calm my brain down from the constant chatter that once existed.

A good friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in years said to me recently, I have never seen you look this good. You used to be tired all of the time and you have so much energy now.

I love how you can change your life at any point for the better. Despite my mindful eating and exercising it is very hard to resist foods I only eat once a year so guess what? I indulge. The difference is that I no longer feel guilty or make excuses, I just enjoy my food.

It is not the one meal a year that makes you gain weight, it is the weeks leading up to a holiday and the weeks after the holiday that count.

This week I am doing this post holiday detox to help my digestion, gain more energy and refocus. Besides the holidays I have also had some pretty awesome house guests. Now it is time to get back to me 🙂 Here is what I am going to do this week to detox.

  • Drinking Water. This week I am going to drink even more water than I normally do. I have my lemons sliced and ready for my water bottle.
  • Ginger Tea. I am going to be drinking hot ginger tea this week. It is really good for digestion. I also love putting fresh lemon in my ginger tea
  • Eating Clean.  I am going to be eating all veggies and some fruit this week. You might be thinking, isn’t this what you normally do? It is, but I am going to be eating even more veggies, especially greens to help detox and energize.
  • Exercising. I walked every day last week with my mom and sometimes my niece, the fresh cold air felt really good. This week I am going to sweat more with yoga, bike rides and power walks.
  • Self Care. Taking time to detox from social media. I plan on getting off of the computer every night by 7:30 and take time to unwind, read a book and spend some quality time with my love.
