I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I absolutely love being connected and able to reach all of my loved ones in multiple ways, text/phone/facebook but sometimes it is just so hard to become disconnected.
One of the best things to come out of technology, in my health coach opinion :), are some really helpful healthy phone apps!
If technology can help you become healthier I am all about it. Just remember to take time to unwind from being connected every day but shutting your phone off or leaving it a home when you take a walk.
Here are two of the apps I am loving at the moment!
Clean Plates
- Right now this app is only available for NYC and LA restaurants. They are rolling out new cities so be on the lookout! This app gives you the closest restaurant to your location for healthy eating. It scores them with a rating system of ok, good and great and then distance and price.
- If you are Vegan or Vegetarian you can let the app know and it will find locations based on your preferences. I can’t wait for this app to go nationwide!
- You can download it here: app.cleanplates
Fooducate
- This is the perfect app for you when you are at the grocery store! The app has a bar code and you can scan any item at the store and it will break it down for you with nutritional value, calories, the amount of sugar in it, and a grade system – A being the best, F being the worst!
- If you are curious to see how your favorite items rate check out the website. It has information on almost every item you can purchase.
- Side note… fruits & veggies don’t need to be scanned because they are so delicious for you! If you are filling up your shopping cart with all the colors of the rainbow you won’t have to worry about their Fooducate rating 🙂
