Have your cravings for sweets or salts intensified?
Have you been having more mood swings than usual?
Have you noticed your belly being bloated?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, it is time to take a quick mini-break to balance your hormones.
Most likely these feelings are caused by stress. Perhaps you are working on a big project at work or have too many social obligations this week and your body is feeling a little out of sorts.
I am here to share with you three easy things that you can do right now to balance your hormones. I encourage you to stop what you are doing and try these three easy things so that you can reset your health and have a calmer, more balanced day.
Three Things You Can Do Right Now To Balance Your Hormones
Take Deep Breathes
- Most of the time when are are busy balancing our lives we often take short shallow breathes, this is not helping our body cope with our day. Deep breathing actually calms the mind down and resets your inner body so that you can cope better with whatever is going on in your day. Try this, take a seat and place your feet on the floor, roll your shoulders up and back and sit even taller. Close your eyes and take deep breathes in through the nose for a count of five and then exhale/sigh out of your mouth for five long exhales. Do this for at least a minute, if you are feeling very overwhelmed do it for two minutes, you can set a timer and see how much better you feel.
Yoga Poses
- Yoga has such powerful health benefits, one of them being a way to balance your hormones. If you are at work you can just stand up and do a forward fold, you can even do that sitting in your chair. Just hinge at your hips and let your arms hang by your sides. Try to be in this forward fold for at least a minute. If you are at home try putting your legs up the wall and stay here for at least five minutes. Legs up the wall is super easy, you just find a spot in your home that you can bring your butt against the wall, I like to do this in my bed, then you swing your legs up the wall and bring your butt as close to the wall as possible. Then close your eyes and bring one hand to your heart and the other hand to your belly and take deep long breathes.
Stay Away From The Coffee
- We want to protect and nourish our adrenal glands as much as possible. Coffee gives our body tons of energy in the morning and then we find the need to keep drinking all day which causes this up and down energy flow which overtime becomes taxing on our body especially our adrenal glands. If you are a coffee lover, I encourage you to try a week without coffee and see if you can naturally increase your body’s energy levels without it. If you love the idea of something warm in the morning try warm water with lemon. If you can’t give up coffee forever, I suggest having a coffee detox a few times a year for at least 7-12 days to help get your body back into balance.
